Watch: Elderly Irish couple keep busy dancing around living room to Bee Gees in hilarious clip

AN ELDERLY couple in Ireland have found the perfect way to beat the coronavirus blues: a bit of disco dancing.

Johnny and Carmel Kierans are currently cocooning with family in Drogheda while Ireland remains in lockdown to try and slow the spread of the potentially deadly Covid-19 virus.

With Johnny and Carmel both at the vintage age of 80, it’s crucial that the pair remain indoors for the next 12 weeks to ensure they don’t end up getting coronavirus.

And while the current lockdown has left plenty across Ireland feeling a little stir crazy, it would appear that the Kierans both remain in high spirits.

A clip shared by their daughter Marie on Twitter shows the content couple keeping busy and getting a little gentle exercise by practicing their dance moves.

The pair bust out some pretty impressive shapes during the video, which is sure to put a smile on the face of anyone currently finding life in lockdown a little difficult to bear.

Johnny and Carmel have lost none of their 1970s disco swagger, as the footage demonstrates, with the pair singing and dancing their way through the iconic Bee Gees hit Stayin’ Alive.

It’s a perfect demonstration of the kind of fun that can be had from the comfort of your living room, as long as you have a little imagination as well as a good sense of humour – something the song choice obviously demonstrates.

An uplifting watch in these downbeat times, the video has already been viewed more than 300,000 times on the Irish Mirror’s Facebook page and comes highly recommended.

Top marks all round!
