WATCH: Cheers of joy as Dublin Covid-19 patient discharged after two months

THERE WERE joyful scenes in a Dublin hospital yesterday as one man was finally discharged after beating Covid-19.

Dubliner Tim O'Leary spent a total of 74 days in the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore after contracting the deadly coronavirus at the end of March, and spent over a month in Intensive Care battling the virus.

After 42 days on a ventilator, and with the care and expertise of the staff at the Midlands Regional, the tough Dublin man recovered and was finally allowed to go home yesterday-- after first giving one of the health workers who had looked after him a hygienic 'elbow bump' in thanks.

A video of the moment Mr O'Leary left the hospital was posted by Dublin GAA fan page Hill 16 Army, who wished the St Brigid's man the very best of luck.

In a caption accompanying the heartwarming video, which saw dozens of staff members clapping and cheering as Mr O'Leary was led out the doors into the hands of his loved ones, a spokesperson for the page wrote:

"This is amazing! After 74 days in hospital with Covid-19 (43 of which were on a ventilator) a great Dublin GAA man, Tim O'Leary, leaves the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore this afternoon!

"Incredible news for Tim's family and all his club mates in St Brigid's we all wish Tim the very best of health for the future."

Check out the brilliant video below-- congratulations agus sláinte mhaith, Tim!
