A VIDEO emerged on social media over the weekend showing an Amazon delivery driver spitting on a parcel before leaving it on a customer's front porch.
The shocking footage was taken from a customer's front door spy camera, and shows the delivery man placing an item by the door before spitting into his hand and smearing it on the parcel.
An act, which would be considered vile without the threat of a global viral pandemic is only made worse given the potential ramifications of passing on infection.
The incident allegedly took place on Thursday evening in Los Angeles, California.
According to TMZ, the delivery man was not employed directly through Amazon, but through a third-party delivery service, and has since been fired from his position.
The video was uploaded by a man named Gavin, who claimed the package was his and that he was stunned by what he saw.
"Amazon delivery person spread spit willingly on our package today!" he said.
"Please share!!!!!! I am trying to contact Amazon ASAP so please tag Amazon if you share this!!"
He added: "I received the box and saw a big wet spot and then checked the camera!"
An Amazon spokesperson told The Sun: "This is clearly not representative of drivers who deliver for Amazon and the care they take for customers around the world every day.
"We are aggressively investigating to understand what may have occurred in this situation.
"If it truly was a malicious act by the driver, we will be sure he is held accountable, up through and including law enforcement action."
The news comes after a number of individuals were arrested and jailed for contaminating products in supermarkets by licking them, and posting the videos on social media.
