THIS IS the moment a Dublin man risked life and limb to reunite a stricken swan chick with its mother.
Marie Nolan was filming a swan and bevy of cygnets swimming around the lakes of Terenure College, in Dublin when she spotted one youngster dangerously off course.
The baby swans had only been born a matter of days earlier, yet one of the newly-hatched swan cygnets had managed to get itself trapped in a drain away from its sibling and mother.
For one brief moment, Marie feared the worst.
However, a local lad by the name of Josh Wiler was on hand to come to the rescue.
Quick as a flash, he hopped over a nearby fence and may his way down to the edge of the water and the drain where the small bird was stranded.
He then proceeded to herd the scared cygnet intoo the corner of the drain before gently lifting the bird up to the safety of the waters above.
A heartwarming family reunion ensued with the cygnet’s mother and father gliding over along with the youngster’s young siblings to see how their other little one was.
Josh was treated to a hero’s welcome on his return to the pathway, with onlookers cheering and clapping the young man.
While it is important to stress that Josh’s actions were a touch dangerous and probably shouldn’t be imitated by some of the younger viewers out there, they nevertheless deserve praise.
