DAREDEVIL professional-surfer Andrew Cotton braved this week's torrential storms by taking on the huge waves off Ireland’s coast.
The 34-year-old ex-plumber from Devon was towed out into the ocean on Tuesday where he then fearlessly rode waves of up to 50 feet.
The swell he experienced was some of the biggest ever recorded off the coast of Donegal.
After locating the biggest waves, Mr Cotton travelled to Mullaghmore in Donegal despite many areas throughout Ireland and Britain being on high alert for flooding.
He said: “Bad weather like we have had can bring a lot of flooding and damage, but on the flip side can also bring some really big waves for surfing.
“The conditions were really good and we got some really big waves. The waves break on a shallow rock ledge so if I fell it could be really dangerous.”
Mr Cotton has previously surfed a wave reaching 90 feet off the coast of Portugal during the St Jude storm in October.
He has been on a quest worldwide to find the biggest waves as part of a series for adventure film channel EPIC TV.
