Victim of Louth crash identified

A YOUNG MAN was killed in a crash in the early hours of this morning.

The deceased was in his 30s before the tragedy in the area of Co. Louth today.

The crash solely involved the deceased’s car, which left the road and collided with a pole on the N2 at 1 am on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called and the remains of the victim were taken to our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Louth.

Gardaí sealed off the area of the incident and road diversions were set up to facilitate a forensic examination.

The victim of the crash has now been identified as 32-year-old Conor Farrell from Drogheda.

Speaking to TheMirrorCouncillor Jim Tenanty spoke of the devastation of the local community at the loss of Conor: "I know the family really well.

"I am very sorry to hear of Conor’s loss and that a young person like him has been taken from them.

"The community here in Ardee is shocked and devastated."
