A VIABLE pipe bomb device was discovered in Co. Antrim this morning.
A security alert was sparked after a resident discovered the device in their garden at around 8.30am.
PSNI officers examined the suspicious object at Arthur Avenue in Newtownabbey, before evacuating residents as a precaution.
After army bomb experts attended the scene., the device was taken away for examination.
Evacuated residents have since been allowed to return home.
