AN GARDA Síochána have issued an urgent appeal to the public after 14 dogs were stolen from one home in County Limerick.
The fourteen dogs and puppies-- Bichon Frise, Cavalier King Charles, Jack Sussel and Cavachon breeds-- were taken from a home near Drumcollogher, County Limerick on Tuesday afternoon, 9 June.
The dogs were taken from kennels at the back of the house, and a black car was seen leaving the scene at approximately 12pm, leading authorities to suspect the animals were taken by the driver of this vehicle.
In a statement, investigating Gardaí said the family who own the dogs "are deeply upset as they have owned some of these dogs for years".
"Some of the other dogs were already sold and were waiting to be collected by their new owners in the coming weeks.
"The dogs are believed to be worth around €8,000 but have a sentimental value that is irreplaceable."
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have seen a black car in the area to get in touch, particularly road users who were travelling in or around the area at the time who may have dashcam footage of the vehicle.
Anyone who may have been offered a dog or puppy of the above named breeds are also urged to contact Gardaí with information.
Anyone who may have witnessed the burglary, seen the black car or been offered to buy one of the dogs are asked to contact Gardaí in Newcastle West on 069 20650, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
