U2 joined by Eagles of Death Metal on stage in Paris almost one month after terror attacks

ROCK fans welcomed the return of US band Eagles of Death Metal in Paris, three weeks after terrorist attacks in the city claimed the lives of 130 people.

The band was welcomed onto the stage during a U2 concert on Monday evening at the AccorHotels Arena.

Bono and Eagles of Death Metal (EODM) singer Jesse Hughes performed an emotional joint rendition of Patti Smith's People Have The Power, before the audience was treated to I Love You All The Time by EODM.

"They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago and we would like to offer them ours tonight," Bono said.

On November 13, 130 people were killed in six coordinated attacks carried out at various locations across the French capital.

The attack on the Bataclan theatre in central Paris resulted in the highest number of causalities, with 90 people losing their lives.

U2's concerts, due to take place on November 14 and 15 in Paris, were rescheduled after the terrorist attacks.

Following Monday's concert, EODM singer Hughes said in a statement:

We are incredibly grateful to U2 for providing us the opportunity to return to Paris so quickly, and to share in the healing power of rock 'n' roll with so many of the beautiful people - nos amis - of this great city.

Thank you to France, and thank you to everyone in the world who continues to prove that love, joy, and music will always overcome terror and evil.

EODM resume their tour next year and will perform in Paris again in February.
