TWO WOMEN have been arrested following an assault on a man in County Wexford.
Gardaí have confirmed that two women, both aged in their 30's, were arrested on Sunday, 10 May in connection with a serious assault that left one man with multiple stab wounds.
Emergency services were called to a residence in Clonard, County Wexford at approximately 1.10am where they discovered a man in his early 40's suffering from multiple apparent stab wounds.
He was taken by ambulance to Wexford General Hospital for emergency treatment, however his injuries are thankfully described as non life-threatening.
The scene was preserved in order for a technical examination to be carried out, and both women were arrested at the scene.
They were taken to Wexford Garda Station for questioning and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, however Gardaí have confirmed today that both women have been released without charge.
A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, and investigations are ongoing.
Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses in relation to the serious assault, and have urged anyone who may have information which could assist the investigation to come forward.
