TWO MEN are at large after escaping police custody while attending hospitals, in two separate incidents which took place in Limerick and Dublin.
On Thursday afternoon, October 25th, a male prisoner escaped University Hospital Limerick between the times of 1.30 - 2.30pm, according to The Limerick Leader.
A spokesperson from the Irish Prison Service spoke to the local paper and confirmed that a prisoner was "unlawfully at large [UAL]" after escaping from the hospital.
"Like all UAL cases An Garda Síochána were notified immediately and an investigation will be conducted by both the Prison Sevice and An Garda Síochána," the spokesperson added.
Meanwhile in Dublin, a man who had been arrested on a public order charge and brought to A&E at St James' Hospital for treatment also managed to escape police custody late last night.
He allegedly made a break for freedom by gaining access to the roof by climbing through a ceiling tile, and clambered down the walls of the hospital before taking off on foot, according to Dublin Live.
A Garda spokesman told the outlet: "A 30 year old man who had been arrested today 24th October 2019 in connection with an incident of public order, escaped from Garda Custody while at a Hospital in James' St D8."
A drone was reportedly used to track the escaped Dublin man, but to no avail.
Both the Limerick and Dublin fugitives remain at large.
