Two girls threatened and robbed en route home from festival by men with baseball bats

Two teenagers were on their way home from Longitude when the attack occurred.

Two 19-year-old girls were walking home after a day at the music festival when two men with baseball bats jumped out of a car.

The men threatened the two girls with breaking their legs if they didn't hand over their bags and phones.

According to Dublin Live, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: "We are investigating a robbery from an 18-year-old woman that occurred near Shenick Grove, Skerries, on 14/7/18 at approximately 1:45 am.

"A car pulled up in front of the women and a passenger of the car got out carrying an apparent baseball bat and stole the woman’s bag and phone.

They added: "There were no injuries sustained in this incident.Investigations are continuing."

Local councillor Sharon Tolan warned festival goers to stick together and make sure lifts were arranged: "Two young girls returning from Longitude last night were robbed by two men with baseball bats in a car in the Skerries area. Awful experience for these two lovely girls just out enjoying themselves. While the weekend is now ruined for these two, they wanted me to warn other festival goers! Please be careful, travel in groups and stick together. If you’re on a bus, ensure you have a taxi or lift from where the bus drops you. Be safe"
