Two farmers die in Ireland while working to repair storm damage

TWO men have died in Ireland over the weekend in farm-related accidents.

The men, one from Cork and the other from Wicklow, were killed in separate incidents.

The Health and Safety Authority and gardaí have been notified and investigations are now taking place.

A man in his 50s died in West Cork while working to repair damage to the roof of a shed.

The man was on a telescopic loading machine on a farm at Kilgarriff outside Clonakilty when he fell from the bucket and died at around lunchtime yesterday.

A post-mortem is being carried out at Cork University Hospital.

A farmer in his 70s also died in Wicklow after falling from a ladder at around 3pm yesterday afternoon at Kilmacanogue.

He had been carrying out repairs on a roof in the wake of last week’s storms Ophelia and Brian.
