Two elderly women in Dublin robbed in terrifying daylight ordeal

TWO ELDERLY Irish women have been robbed in a terrifying ordeal that saw the thief open the passenger door of the car they were travelling in before making off with a handbag full of money.

According to Dublin Live, the disturbingly brazen daylight robbery occurred on Culmore Road in Palmerstown at around 2pm on Monday, July 8th.

The two women, though to be in their 70s and 80s respectively, were left shaken by the theft.

They were reportedly returning from the local post office, where one of the two women had withdrawn a substantial amount of money when the incident occurred.

According to the report, a man opened the passenger door of the car after it came to a stop somewhere along Culmore Road.

The man is thought to have opened the door and began screaming at the two women before snatching the handbag off of the lady in the passenger seat and making his escape on foot.

A garda spokesman confirmed to Dublin Live that the incident is being investigated.

He said: "Gardaí are investigating a suspected burglary from a vehicle that occurred at approximately 2pm today 8 July 2019 on Culmore Road, Palmerstown.

"A sum of cash and other items were understood to have been taken. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
