TWO men have been arrested in Limerick city after a loaded handgun was discovered in a car.
The incident occurred late last night involving a number of garda vehicles and the driver of a silver saloon who rammed into the garda vehicles in an attempt to avoid being stopped.
It took place in the Corbally area of the city.
Once the owner of the silver car was stopped, it was searched by gardai and a semi-automatic Luger pistol was found containing ten rounds of ammunition.
A 25-year-old and a 29-year-old man were arrested.
They are currently being detained at Henry Street Garda Station.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
