THE victim of a fatal stabbing attack in west Dublin last night has been named, as tributes begin to pour in.
Bryan Cassidy, 52, received serious stab wounds and was pronounced dead a short time later after an incident at Buirg an Ri Walk, Balgaddy at around 10.20pm.
It is understood that Mr Cassidy was attacked and stabbed a number of times following a 'domestic dispute' at his home.
A 19-year-old man was arrested shortly after midnight and is being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Mr Cassidy has been remembered as a "gentleman" by neighbours, who said he was in a relationship with a woman living at the home.
"My daughter said she saw the victim in the garden of a house. It seems he ran to one house after he was attacked, to try and get help, and then went to a second house where he collapsed in the garden," one local resident told Independent.ie.
"My daughter said the young man at the scene told her he had had a row with the victim."
The scene of the fatal incident remains sealed off for a forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
