GARDAÍ are investigating after a woman was found dead several hours after her car entered a ditch in rural Co. Kilkenny.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at Birchwood, Kilmoganny yesterday morning.
A woman aged in her late 60s was fatally injured when the jeep she was driving went over into a ditch. She was the only person in the vehicle at the time.
The jeep was not discovered until approximately 8.30pm last night.
The woman’s body was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital where a post-mortem examination was due to take place.
The regional road between Carrick-on-Suir and Kilmoganny (R697) has been closed for Garda forensic investigators to examine the scene. Local diversions are in place.
