THE family of an Irish toddler who drowned in a swimming pool accident in the Maldives this week say they have been left “totally devastated”.
Little Max Musgrave, 2, lost his life on Monday during a family holiday with his car tycoon dad Trevor Musgrave and fashion supplier mum Tara Logan.
It is understood that toddler was missing for a short period after wandering off in the private Huvafen Fushi island resort.
Max, the youngest of three children, was later found unresponsive in a pool attached to the family villa.
The Department of Foreign Affairs have said they are aware of the incident and are providing consular assistance to the Musgrave family.
A family friend has said that dad Trevor, from Castleknock, and mum Tara, from Malahide, are “inconsolable” following the loss of young Max.
"It's just devastating. It's just every family's worst nightmare," she told the Irish Independent.
"Everyone's thoughts and prayers are with them at this time.
“It's just unimaginable what they must be going through.”
Max Musgrave is the second Irish citizen to die in the Maldives just this month.
On Monday last week, Dubliner Andrew Roddy, 30, drowned in the Indian Ocean while on honeymoon with his wife Gill Campion.
