IRISH soccer star Robbie Keane is mourning the loss of a second cousin in two days, as the pair died in a tragic work accident.
Alan Harris, a father-of-two and cousin of the Ireland international, was overcome by methane gas when he was inspecting underground pipes in Portmarnock, Dublin, on Wednesday.
He died at the scene.
His brother Stephen Harris, who was working with him, was taken to Beaumont Hospital in a critical condition.
Keane took to Facebook last night to thank his fans for their messages of sympathy, before his cousin Stephen passed away in hospital this morning.
“As you can imagine it's been a very difficult time for our family may Alan RIP and we continue to pray for Stephen thanks everyone for your kind messages and support,” he said, sharing a picture of the tragic brothers.
Alan, 45, will be laid to rest tomorrow in Glasnevin Cemetery, while funeral arrangements have yet to be announced for 34-year-old Stephen.
Keane is still expected to participate in Ireland's clash with Scotland tomorrow - having taken part in a training session in Malahide, Dublin, yesterday evening.
