A MAP depicting the UK and Ireland is the talk of the internet thanks to its ‘unique’ depiction of the Emerald Isle.
Unfortunately for the creative team behind the new map, it’s been getting attention for all the wrong reasons.
Created for use on the Newquay tourism website, the map has been solely created to encourage people to visit the small town on the Cornwall coast.
Offering scenic views and some lovely beaches, Newquay is a popular destination for holidaymakers far and wide.
Irish folk thinking about a trip down to the seaside town may think twice after this rather odd geographical blunder though.
The map depicts Ireland as a decidedly small Ireland. Much smaller than most Irish people will recall, in fact.
Arguably the strangest aspect of this particular design comes with the positioning of Dublin.
Maybe someone at the Newquay tourism board was hoping they could cut corners and no one would notice.
Maybe someone was trying to make it a map of the UK and just added Dublin in for reference.
Maybe they just ran out of ink.
Whatever the truth, the end result is a map that has left everyone in Ireland feeling a little bit miffed.
In any case, the map is noticeably absent from the Newquay tourism website.
Someone must be working on a new version.
