A TODDLER was rescued from a burning flat early this morning.
In Bartley Green, Birmingham, three children and their mother were rescued from their burning home.
According to METRO, neighbours to the family could hear them screaming for help before two neighbours managed to rescue two of the children.
Emergency services were then called, with firefighters finally rescuing the mother and remaining child from the flames. The family were rushed to hospital, with the youngest child put into an induced coma to recover from her injuries.
A neighbour to the family said: "Everyone was in shock but we all acted quickly to help the family. We managed to pull out two children alive before the fire service got here.
They were very quick and then they rescued the other child and the woman."
Andy Rainey, of the local firefighting services recalled the story. The station commander said the property was engulfed in fire: "The fire service were called at 1.21am and arrived on scene four minutes later where a severe fire greeted them.
"Crews using breathing operators were dispatched and rescued one lady and three children from the flat, who were then conveyed to hospital."
Commander Rainey said the scene of the fire is under examination: "We were supported by police and paramedics at the scene and currently investigations in the cause of the fire are underway.
"Fire crews from Northfield and Woodgate Valley were the original attending crews and they were joined by crews from Hayden cross, Smethwick and Bourne Brook, Kings Norton, and West Brom."
