A THREE-YEAR-OLD girl has died after being hit by a bus near her home in County Tipperary.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses in the tragic incident, which occurred yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 13 April.
According to Gardaí, the child was playing near her home in the Castle Heights housing estate in Carrick-on-Suir at around 4pm when she was struck by a passing bus.
The emergency services were called and paramedics immediately attended the scene, but despite the best efforts of medical staff the toddler was pronounced dead a short time later.
The girl's body has been taken to South Tipperary General Hospital to undergo a postmortem.
The driver of the bus, a male, also received treatment from emergency service staff at the scene of the incident.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information, particularly anyone who may have video or dash-cam footage of the incident in Carrick-on-Suir, to come forward.
In a statement, a spokesperson urged they are "appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were in the housing estate at the time of the collision, to make this footage available to Gardaí.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052 6177640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
Investigations continue.
