THREE weather warnings issued for rain across 12 Irish counties.
Ireland’s national forecaster Met Eireann has issued three separate status yellow weather warnings for rain.
The first rainfall warning is in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, and Wicklow. Up to 40 mm of rain is expected to fall in those counties.
It also warned of higher amounts likely to fall in the Wicklow Mountains.
The alert will remain in place from 6 pm this evening through to 6 pm on Saturday.
A second warning followed for Galway, Mayo, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford, predicting rainfall of up to 44 mm in the next 24 hours in those counties too.
A third yellow alert has been issued later this afternoon for the counties of Cork and Kerry, with Met Eireann predicting between 30 to 55 mm of rainfall here.
It is expected to be heaviest in the hours leading up to midnight tonight.
Met Eireann has also warned of a risk of flooding, with the highest risk in south and west Cork – as well as south and west Kerry.
The third warning has been issued until 11 am on Saturday.
