TESCO IS joining the meat-free revolution with its very own vegan sausage roll.
The supermarket giant is following in the footsteps of bakery chain Greggs in bringing out a meat-free sausage roll.
Greggs garnered widespread media attention after unveiling its vegan alternative last January.
The new product quickly caught the eye of TV personality Piers Morgan, who even went as far as trying one on live television.
But while Greggs meat-free sausage rolls didn’t go down especially well with Morgan, they have proved a hit with customers.

Greggs vegan rolls have been flying off the shelves ever since with many Greggs outlets selling out of the meat-free treats entirely.
Now Tesco is looking to muscle in on the act with a vegan sausage roll of its own that is notable for being 25% cheaper than the Greggs edition.
A combination of puff pastry and soya-based Lincolnshire-style sausage seasoned with sage and onion, the snack is already available to purchase from one of the supermarket’s in-store bakeries
The move towards more vegan alternatives comes despite the publication of research indicating that people who exist on a meat-free diet are more likely to have time off work.
