Temperatures are set to plummet in Ireland after snowfall

DESPITE snow and frost in most parts of Ireland today, it seems temperatures are only set to get lower.

Frost and snow have taken over many roads today, making travelling difficult for many people across the country.

An orange snow-ice warning was given last night for residents in Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon and Tipperary.

According to The Irish Times, temperatures for Leinster, Ulster and east Connacht are set to lower to between -2 and -8 between now and Monday.

An Garda Síochána issued a statement advising drivers to take extra caution on the roads: "Motorists should clear the windows and mirrors of your vehicles before you set off on your journey and carry a screen scraper and de-icer. Do not use hot water on the windscreen as it can crack the glass."
