A LONDON-Irish teenager will be the star attraction at Twickenham Stadium when Ireland’s rugby team face England on Saturday.
Róisín Neligan-Ayling, 14, will deliver a solo performance of Ireland’s Call in the 82,000 capacity venue on September 5.
The rugby fan — who was born in the capital to a mother from Co. Cork and an English father — will entertain supporters at Ireland’s final warm-up game before the 2015 World Cup kicks off.
Classically-trained singer Róisín successfully auditioned to sing for Ireland through Events Company Event 360 and she’s excited to pay tribute to her Irish heritage.
“I am so excited to sing for Ireland,” she said. “I am truly honoured to have been given this opportunity, and I hope the luck of the Irish will be with me on the day.”
The avid hockey player for Sunbury Hawks cites her rugby-mad grandmother as a huge influence over her following of the London Irish and Munster teams.
Roisin attends St Catherine’s School in Twickenham, and first auditioned for the singing role as a means of fundraising for a volunteer opportunity in Peru next summer.
Ireland begin their World Cup campaign on September 19 against Canada in Cardiff.
