Status orange weather warning for Ireland has been extended

THE SNOW AND ICE warning has been extended until 6 pm this evening.

A status orange snow and ice warning has been given for seven counties in Ireland.

According to Met Éireann, the counties of Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath and Waterford have been advised to be wary of the oncoming weather.

Despite heavy snowfall already, large showers of snow are set to keep falling and will lead to accumulations on the ground. Mountainous areas are set to be most affected.

The warning for the aforementioned counties was issued yesterday evening at 8 pm and was set to remain valid until 9 am tomorrow morning.

Met Éireann has since updated the warning and said it's valid until 6 pm.
