SIX little puppies were found abandoned in a shoebox left out in the rain on Tuesday night.
The tiny little things were just hours old when they were rescued, and were found huddles together for warmth.
Fortunately all appeared to be in good health when examined by a vet.
The discovery was made near Our Lady's Well in Mulhuddart.
According to Dublin's 98 FM, an appeal has been made to the public for any information on how the puppies got there and for their mother to be given up.
Louise Connolly, a dog groomer and animal rescuer, who has been looking after the dogs since they were brought in said:
"It was the first night we had really the cold weather so when they were found they were wet and cold, I actually didn't think they would make it through the night.
"There was not even a blanket or nothing in [the box], it was literally a piece of paper you would get with your shoes.
"They were literally a couple of hours old, their umbilical cord still had bits of blood on it."
The gender of the animals have yet to be identified.
Coincidentally, the news comes just a day after six puppies were found abandoned in a cardboard box in Carlow.
