Sinn Fein politician has big beef with McDonald’s new lrish McMór burger

MCDONALD'S newest addition to its Irish fast food menu has only been available for a few days but it is already causing controversy.

Earlier this week The Irish Post reported that the limited edition McMór burger would be available in all 88 McDonald’s restaurants across Ireland from this week, but now Sinn Féin West Tyrone MLA Barry McElduff has accused McDonald's of being "partitionist".

According to The Irish News, McElduff’s complaint to the global fast food chain is over the fact that the 'Irish' burger will not be sold in Northern Ireland.

"It is not 'mór go leor' because it does not incorporate the six counties. If it's available in Letterkenny then it should be available in Omagh," he said.

"There is a popular McDonald's in Omagh and I know the patrons in the county of Tyrone would fully expect to have the choice of a McMór.

"McDonald's is a global firm and some people have concerns about its ethics, but we can now add the sin of partitionism to the list."

The controversial burger has had a full Irish makeover - with a potato-flaked bun, 100 per cent Irish beef and bacon, layered shredded cabbage and whole baby leaf kale, Ballymaloe Relish and Charleville Cheddar, but will not be available in any McDonalds in Britain or Northern Ireland.
