IT’S OFFICIAL Sinead O’Connor is single and ready to mingle.
The 53-year-old singer, who goes by the name Shuhada' Sadaqat since converting to Islam, took to Twitter to confirm the exciting news.
Not that it was entirely of her own volition, of course.
According to the message posted online by the Irish musician legend, it was her daughter, Roisin, who pushed her into action.
Her 23-year-old daughter completed an online application for the Nothing Compares 2 U star to appear on the next series of the Channel 4 dating series, First Dates.
“Ha! My daughter just completed an application for me for First Dates : ),” Sinead wrote to her 59k followers on Twitter.
A major hit in both the UK and Ireland as well as countless regions across the world, the concept behind First Dates couldn’t be simpler: people who have no met each other before are filmed on first dates.
At the end of each date, the couples are interviewed together and asked whether they would like to go on a second date.
Shuhada wouldn’t be the first famous musician to appear on the series.
Ben Volpeliere-Pierrot, the lead singer of 1980s/90s pop band Curiosity for the Cat made an appearance on the show while Paul Cattermole of S Club 7 fame also featured previously.
O’Connor has four children including Jake (32), Roisin (23), Shane (15) and Yeshua (13).
She has also been married four times.
Shuhada was most recently to Irish therapist Barry Herridge, who she wed in December 2011 only for the union to end a matter of days with the couple later revealing they had reconciled.
