A master of Irish culinary delights will call for all hands on deck this month to help launch a summer of sailing in London.
Co Meath chef Richard Corrigan is on board and cooking up a storm for the Tall Ship on the Thames festival taking place during the Olympics.
The maritime event, Sail Royal Greenwich, will give people the chance to go aboard a magnificent Tall Ship.
Classic sailing ships like the authentic three-masted schooner Oosterschelde, the Iris, JR Tolkien and Twister are among those taking part in the festival.
From July 25 to August 12, 15 Tall Ships will cruise the Thames from the Royal Arsenal Pier, Woolwich, passing four Olympic venues, The O2, Canary Wharf, Old Royal Naval College, Queens House and the Observatory as well as going through the Thames Barrier and crossing the Greenwich Meridian Line.
This will be rivalled only by the arrival parade on Wednesday, July 25 when a flotilla of around 18 Tall Ships will sail in convoy into the city.
Each cruise includes a multi-course lunch by masterchef Richard Corrigan who has teamed up with Ron Blaauw, a Michelin starred chef from the Netherlands.
“It’s very exciting,” said Richard, whose London restaurants include Bentley’s Oyster Bar and Grill and Corrigan’s Mayfair. “We’ll have fun and I think London will have a lot of fun as well. It’s about time something like this happened here.”
The chefs have chosen a theme of the British Isles for their menus, which have been uniquely designed for this Tall Ships experience.
