Several Irish flights cancelled as French air traffic controllers go on strike

A NUMBER of Irish flights have been cancelled this morning due to a strike by air traffic controllers in France.

Public sector employees are protesting against low pay and President Emmanuel Macron’s reform drive.

More than 140 protests are planned across France today.

The biggest will be held at the Bastille monument in central Paris where unions expect 25,000 demonstrators.

Dublin Airport has confirmed that shorter flights will be the most affected throughout the day today, and encourage passengers to check their flight information with their airline before coming to the airport.

All long-haul flights are currently expected to operate.

Ryanair released a statement on its website this morning confirming that I had been forced to cancel some flights due to the general strike in France.

France’s aviation authority said a third of flights into and out of the main Paris airports would be cancelled because of a strike by air traffic controllers.

Severe weather in the east is of the US is also causing disruption for Irish passengers this morning.

Four Eurostar trains between London and Paris have also been cancelled so far today.
