STATUS Orange weather warnings have been issued for seven Irish counties where gusts are now expected to reach up to 130km/h.
Met Éireann is telling people living in counties Galway, Mayo, Wexford, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Waterford to be prepared for severe winds from Friday into Saturday.
Winds will reach speeds 65-80km/h with gusts 110-130km/h in coastal parts of Connacht and Munster.
There will also be a risk of flooding along the coast of Wexford as storm Storm Brian tracks eastwards across central and southern parts of the country.
The weather bomb - also known as a bomb-cyclogenesis - is a term used for a low pressure system whose central pressure falls 24 millibars in 24 hours.
The latest warnings come after 14 Irish counties were put on alert for heavy rains and winds of up to 90km as the country still recovers from the devastating effects of Storm Ophelia.
Three people died in the storm, while the country's travel network was widely disrupted.
The warnings come as experts warn Storm Brian could hinder efforts to restore power to thousands of people in Ireland when it arrives on Friday.
