The search for missing Irish Times journalist Kate Holmquist has been called off after a body was discovered in Dollymount Strand.
The body is confirmed as being that of the 62 year old writer.
Ms Holmquist was last seen on the evening of Saturday 3 August at her home in Sandycove.
Gardaí began an investigation after the alarm was raised, and an appeal for information was circulated on social media sites.
The search came to a tragic conclusion this afternoon after Ms Holmquist’s body was found on a beach 18 kilometres away.
The Gardaí are calling the discovery the result of a personal tragedy and do not believe that there was anyone else involved.
Tributes are now flooding in for Ms Holmquist from fans, friends and colleagues, who have paid homage to the “wonderful”, “empathetic” person and “immensely talented” journalist.

This is a piece of journalism that always sticks out in my mind - Kate Holmquist's empathetic reporting on a man who had an episode on the tracks of the Dart. She persuaded him to tell her his story. https://t.co/qxCp7pgXha
