Search launched for ‘Good Samaritan’ Irish woman who tended to man after London bottle attack

POLICE in London are hoping to trace a kind-hearted Irish woman who helped a young man after she witnessed him being attacked with a vodka bottle.

The brutal assault occurred at around 11.30pm on Friday, June 30 this year at Hampton Wick station in south-west London.

The British Transport Police (BTP) have re-issued an appeal for information and would like to find the woman, who spoke with an Irish accent and walked the 22-year-old victim home.

The unknown Good Samaritan is yet to come forward to police.

The BTP said the man targeted in the attack had been walking down a staircase towards the station's exit by the main road when two men came up from behind before one of them grabbed a cigarette from his hand.

The victim turned around and one of the men struck him on the head with a vodka bottle, police said.

He required hospital treatment after sustaining a large cut to his head and bruising to both his eye and cheekbone.

A number of members of the public stepped in to help the man including the unknown Irish woman police now wish to speak to.

After the BTP's original appeals, an 18-year-old man from Hampton, Richmond Upon Thames was interviewed and reported for ABH assault in relation to the offence.

As part of the ongoing investigation officers have released a CCTV image of a second man they want to speak to in connection with the incident as he may have information which could assist in their enquiries.
