THE search for a missing fisherman who 'was swept into the sea' off the Irish coast has entered its third day.
The missing man, in his 40s, is from Russia and had been living in Limerick, RTE reports.
He was fishing with another man on the rocks at Pulleen Bay, in Doonbeg Co Clare, when he was swept into the sea on Saturday morning, September 16.
The alarm was raised at 9am on Saturday, and search and rescue teams were mobilised.
Yesterday, divers from local sub-aqua clubs searched the waters of Pulleen Bay near Doonbeg, and were joined in the search by the Garda Sub-Aqua Unit this afternoon.
The diving units were stood down yesterday and a cliff top search continued until late on Sunday night.
The Irish Coast Guard’s Gerard O’Flynn told Clare FM that local volunteer coast guard teams supported by a number of diving teams, including the Garda diving team, while continue with the search.
