RTÉ producer who flew to England over 15-year-old girl to be sentenced for child sex abuse

A FORMER RTÉ producer convicted of sex offences in England is due to be sentenced later today.

Kieran Creaven, 55, pleaded guilty in December to attempting to groom an underage girl.

He also admitted to a second charge of trying to incite a girl to take part in sexual activity.

The Dubliner was caught on camera after he engaged with a fake Facebook profile, set up by a vigilante group known as ‘Predator Exposure’.

The group pretended to be a 15-year-old girl, prompting Creaven to fly over to Leeds in order to meet her.

Kieran Creaven was fired by RTÉ from his role as a sports producer in December.

He was reported to police after being confronted there by the vigilantes.

The entire confrontation was streamed via Facebook Live, during which the group placed Creaven under citizens’ arrest.

During the video, Creaven insisted that he had no children and had reached out to the girl simply to act as a father figure.

But the group dismissed his statements and claimed to be in possession of a number of explicit images sent by 'Jimmi Cee' – which was the username Creaven is alleged to have used online.

Creaven was fired from his job as a sports producer at RTÉ once he pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

He is to appear for sentencing at Leeds Crown Court this afternoon.
