The Rose of Tralee might be best known as Ireland’s real-life ‘Lovely Girls’ competition (As taken off in the superb episode of Father Ted), but each year it’s the jokes, memes and random bizarre occurrences that end up being the most memorable part of the contest.
This year’s competition has already made its mark as one that will go down in history, with presenter Dáithí Ó Sé’s ‘Kinky Boots’ act raising €28,000 for charity—and looking dapper while doing so.

The Limerick Rose, Doctor Sinéad Flanagan, was the winner of this year’s Tiara, but it was the Ohio Rose who got people talking.
Danielle Goebel immortalised herself in Irish craic culture when she showed the audience her hidden talent: opening a bottle of wine with a boot.

The audience clapped along as an accordion played a rendition of the Mission Impossible theme song, and the giddy Ohio Rose slammed the boot off the table while claiming she was going to pee herself. (Yes, this is Ireland's answer to Miss Universe.)
