Riverdance cast from all over the world unite to say ‘thank you’ to frontline workers in stunning video

THE CAST of Riverdance has paid tribute to frontline and essential workers all over the world in a stunning new routine posted on social media.

While the current lockdown has put an end to all forthcoming shows and kept dancers and friends apart, the new video sees them unite from across the world for a truly breathtaking performance.

Dancers from Ireland, the UK, US, Canada, Spain and Australia appear in the clip as well as performers from Moldova, Ukraine and Russia.

While many have filmed themselves from the comfort of their homes or the natural surroundings of the countryside, others appear on the frontline having swapped their dancing shoes for scrubs.

The powerful performance is introduced by Dr Gillian Madders and Dr Maria Buffini saying: “From all of us at Riverdance and from the frontline to all of you at home — thank you.”

It’s a powerful tribute to those fighting back against the pandemic and provides further proof of the stark but encouraging truth: we are all in this together.

The caption accompanying the clip posted on Facebook reads:

"From their homes in Ireland, UK, USA, Canada, Spain, Australia, Moldova, Ukraine & Russia as well as those dancers who have swapped their dancing shoes for scrubs, the Riverdance cast have come together while being apart to say ‘thank you’ to all frontline and essential workers, as well as the people at home who continue to do their part in the fight against COVID-19. #TogetherApart #staysafe #riverdance”

The video and performance comes hot on the heels of a similar tribute from the cast of Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, who previously teamed up for a lockdown-inspired routine celebrating the true “heroes” of this crisis – those on the frontline.
