A REMEMBRANCE day service in Omagh, Co. Tyrone has been postponed because of the discovery of a suspicious object.
Cordons were placed at the areas of Drumragh Avenue, Sedan Avenue, Mountjoy Road, High Street and George Street in Omagh following the security scare.
Graham Dodds, chief inspector of police said the attempt to throw off the service was malicious, but tried to assure the people of Northern Ireland that the PSNI were doing the utmost "I would like to reassure the public that we are working hard to make the area safe and that we will continue to provide updates on any impact to today's event...
"This is a sickening attempt by cowards to create fear and disruption on a day when many gather to pay their respects to the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice and must be unreservedly condemned."
