Red Ed! Sheeran dons Cork GAA jersey as he kicks off Irish tour

ED SHEERAN donned a Cork GAA jersey as he kicked off his Irish tour in style at Pairc Uí Chaoímh last night.

At the first of three sold-out dates in the city, the singer told the crowd of 40,000: “Irish audiences are the finest in the world.”

In the first concert at the redeveloped stadium, Sheeran opened with Castle on the Hill, the lead single from his latest album, ÷.

Mid-set he was joined by Beoga for a performance of his massive hit, Galway Girl, kicking it off with a verse of the Steve Earle song of the same name.

The Irish folk outfit then stayed on stage to perform Nancy Mulligan with the singer, a song inspired by his Irish grandparents from Wexford.

Sheeran rounded off the night with You Need Me, I don’t Need You as well as his number 1 hit Shape of You during his encore.

Honorary rebel Ed’s show got the seal of approval from fans.

Sheeran plays Cork again tonight and tomorrow, before heading to Belfast on Wednesday, Galway next Saturday and Sunday, before finishing his Irish tour with three dates in Dublin the following week.
