R Kelly announces plans for new tour despite allegations of sexual abuse

R KELLY has announced several new tour dates across Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka despite mounting allegations of historic sexual abuse.

The R&B star announced the plans on social media, tweeting the words: “NEW TOUR ALERT” in a message that has since been deleted.

No dates were specified in the tweet, though the singer is already scheduled to perform in Germany this April.

The tweet comes just a few weeks after Surviving R. Kelly, a six-part documentary detailing the allegations made against the musician, aired in the US.

The documentary features interviews with several women and industry insiders who are accusing the singer of physical, emotional and sexual abuse.

Kelly has vehemently denied all accusations, which claim he abused multiple women and underage girls.

In 2002 he was indicted on 13 counts of child pornography, but was acquitted of all charges in 2008.

The documentary gave rise to the #MuteRKelly campaign which saw a number of artists and former collaborators speak out against Kelly, including Lady Gaga, Celine Dion and Chance the Rapper.

Several collaborations involving Kelly have been pulled from streaming services while Sony BMG, the parent company of the singer’s record label, parted ways with the musician.
