A CATHOLIC priest paid a very special visit to his beloved grandmother this weekend.
Father Anthony Ferguson was determined to make his grandma’s 98th birthday one to remember.
What would have been a day likely spent in the company of her immediate family ended up being significantly curtailed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Like many people her age, Fr Ferguson’s grandmother has been cooped up in one of the many care homes across the US which have been forced to go into lockdown to stop the virus from reaching its residents.
It’s a situation that has seen her live a more isolated existence than previous, with family visits largely restricted to chats through closed windows.
The lockdown has also meant care home residents have been unable to enjoy excursions out to places like their local church.
It was my great joy to celebrate a mass outside my Grandma’s nursing home window this morning — on her 98th birthday no less!

But if she couldn’t come to the church, Fr Ferguson decided it was high time the church came to her for a very special Sunday Mass.
A wonderful way to mark her birthday, the Catholic Priest set himself up just outside her window to perform a Mass that meant so much to the recipient.
Fr Ferguson was careful to take all the necessary precautions, given the situation, with the Priest wearing a facemask and keeping a distance outside her window.

He also decided to capture the experience in a series of pictures shared to Twitter.
