PRESIDENT OF IRELAND Michael D Higgins will be in Londont oday to attend an event commemorating the achievements of Irish women in Britain.
The event, in conjunction with St Brigid's Day and organised by the Irish Embassy in London, celebrates the contributions and talents of women in many fields, including the arts, architecture, fashion, business, science and technology.
Actor Pauline McLynn, writer Sharon Horgan and designer Orla Kiely will be among those in attendance.
Ahead of the event, President Higgins will spend his morning paying his respects at the grave of Eve Gore-Booth, and will also visit the Suffragette Fellowship Memorial in London’s Christchurch Gardens.
He gave a speech in London in October 2016 on the life and work of Ms Gore-Booth, the Sligo-born suffragette and activist.
