A CHARITY bake sale was held recently at Irish owned company Powerday in Willesden, North West London, which raised an impressive £1000 for St Luke's Hospice in Harrow.
The event was arranged by Powerday employee Sarah Hallissey, who works in credit control at the company's head office, who decided to raise some money for St Luke's in memory of her grandmother who passed away on 11th April this year.
87 year old Eileen Hallissey, originally from Oola in county Limerick, spent her final days at St Luke's after battling cancer for a number of years.
Sarah was so impressed with the exceptional level of care her grandmother received that she was inspired to raise funds for the hospice to help them provide the same experience for others in the future.
The staff at the Powerday materials recycling facility were only too happy to join in the fundraising effort, both in the baking and buying of the delicious array of cakes and Sarah was delighted with the final amount raised.
