Police release CCTV of man in Irish GAA top after pensioner is robbed at knifepoint in London

POLICE have released CCTV footage of a man in an Irish GAA tracksuit top in after an elderly man was robbed at knifepoint.

On December 9 2016, Metropolitan Police were called shortly before 11pm to reports that a 71-year-old man had been robbed of cash at knifepoint as he left Langdon Park DLR station.

As the pensioner left the station, he was approached and told to hand over his money.

The suspect pointed a small knife at him. The man handed over his money and then went home to call police.

Police have now released CCTV of a man they want to speak to as part of their enquiries.

He is described as a white man, aged in his 30s, with short brown hair.

He was wearing a blue hooded top with red stripes on the sleeves.

He was also wearing blue jeans and trainers.

Detective Constable Ryan Smith, from Tower Hamlets CID, said: "The pensioner was shaken from his ordeal.

"We are keen to identify the man in the CCTV footage so we can speak to him about the incident.

"We would also urge anyone who witnessed the robbery to contact us."

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
