Police investigate after British husband of missing Irishwoman Tina Satchwell finds suitcases

GARDAÍ in Ireland are investigating after the husband of a missing Irish woman found two suitcases, which he believes belong to his wife, in a supermarket car park.

Tina Satchwell, 45, disappeared from her home in Youghal, Co. Cork on March 20 this year.

The suitcases are believed to be amongst items Ms Satchwell may have had with her.

Originally from Cork, Ms Satchwell previously lived in Leicester, where she met her husband, and the couple have been married for 25 years and lived in Ireland for that time.

Richard Satchwell, 66 and originally from Leicester, told TV3 News that he discovered two suitcases on a date last month in the Tesco car park in Youghal, Co. Cork.

Mr Satchwell said he spotted the suitcases as he drove into the car park by the recycling bins.

While he thought one suitcase looked similar, he was unsure about the second case.

A spokesman for An Garda Síochána said: "Gardaí have located two suitcases in the Youghal area which have been sent for technical examination.

"It is not known at present if this is related to any ongoing investigation."

Richard Satchwell previously described the last time he saw his wife to RTÉ's Crimecall where he also pleaded with her to come home.

“She came downstairs. I gave her a cup of tea and a slice of toast," he said.

“Then she asked if I’d go over to Dungarvan. I gave her a peck, and said I’d see her in a couple of hours,” Mr Satchwell added.

When he returned he found the house empty, except for Tina’s two dogs, Ruby and Heidi which was strange because, according to Mr Satchwell and the family, Tina went everywhere with her pets.

He also noticed two suitcases and a considerable amount of money missing from their house.

Four days later on March 24, having made enquiries with her family and still with no word from Tina, he contacted gardaí to report his wife missing.

Appealing directly to his wife on the programme, Richard Satchwell said: "Tina come home. There’s nobody mad at you. My arms are open. The pets are missing you.

“I just can’t go on not knowing. Even if you just ring the guards, let people know that you’re alright.”

Ms Satchwell is described as 5’6’’, of medium build with blonde shoulder length hair and blue eyes.
