A HERO police dog rescued a missing woman from freezing temperatures on Cave Hill, County Antrim.

Csasci the police dog assisted officers in locating and rescuing the vulnerable who had been missing for a day and a half.

A PSNI spokesman said: "Without doubt one of our police dogs saved a life last weekend, as the beast from the east brought horrendous weather conditions to the province and the majority of people were tucked up warm in their beds, the emergency services were searching the cave hill in minus 4 temps for a high risk missing person.

"Having been missing for 12 hours we were fearing the worst.

"However, thanks to police dog Csacsi, he located the woman in thick woodland, unconscious and hypothermic.

"The handler warmed her as best he could calling for urgent medical assistance. Thanks to their actions the lady is recovering well."
