Piers Morgan calls for Donald Trump to be ‘removed from office with immediate effect’

PIERS MORGAN has called on Donald Trump to be "removed from office with immediate effect."

It comes are pro-Trump rioters stormed the US Capitol Building.

Trump supporters forced their way into the building during a US Congress hearing to certify Joe Biden as president.

The attack followed a rally held by Trump in Washington DC in which the President once again refused to accept defeat, instead reiterating unfounded allegations of voter fraud.

He also called on his supporters to continue contesting the result in a series of remarks that incited the ensuing chaos.

Four people died including one woman who was shot and killed during the ugly and chaotic scenes that followed.

Reacting to the scenes on Twitter Morgan, who previously enjoyed a warm relationship with Trump having starred in a series of the celebrity edition of The Apprentice, hit out at the President.

“My god.. Trump supporters have stormed the US Capitol building. Never seen anything like this... scary situation, all driven by President’s insane behaviour & rhetoric. Shameful,” he tweeted.

Morgan doubled down on his criticism of Trump in a follow-up tweet.

“Your violent thugs are launching a coup at the US Capitol, @realDonaldTrump and it’s all on YOU and your horrific antics since losing the election. Stop this madness now before it ends in tragedy.”

Later, after Trump called for his supporters to “stay peaceful”, Morgan replied directly: “You’ve caused this, get on TV immediately and stop it - before people start being killed.”

The Good Morning Britain host later erupted at the President following the news that one Trump supporter had died.

“A woman’s been shot in this carnage and it’s all on you,” he said.

“This is not reality TV, this is real life. Get on TV now, admit you lost the election, & call off this insanity. And then get out of the White House.”

“President Trump must be removed from office with immediate effect,” he added in a follow-up tweet.

Morgan went on to praise President-elect Joe Biden’s powerful speech reacting to the ugly scenes in Washington DC before making one final observation on the police’s handling of the incident.

“If these rioters were mainly Black or Muslim, the police would be behaving in a far more aggressive way. Incredible to see how calmly they are treating such an appalling assault on US democracy.”

Trump’s Twitter account has since been suspended while he has also been banned from Facebook and Instagram amid accusations of inciting violence and spreading false information.
