WE MAY have missed out on snow this winter for the most part but across the Atlantic, New York is covered in a thick, soft white blanket.

Naturally enough, this means adults and children alike make the most of it by taking to the great outdoors to build a snowman.

But the McGeoghegan family from Derry, who live in the city of Syracuse, New York, decided that their 2016 "snowman" would take a very different approach this year.

In a break from tradition, Decky McGeoghegan decided to build a snow version of one of the North of Ireland's best-known republican murals.

Mum-of-two Denise McGeoghegan shared the picture on Facebook where it quickly began to gain attention.

"We've evolved from snowmen to Irish historical landmarks! Tiocfaidh Ár Lá," she wrote.

She went on to add: "See what my poor neighbors have to put up with."

There are bound to be some very confused New Yorkers in their neighbourhood wondering what is going on...
